When a theme is given for a Halloween Party, it is not easy to decide whether to look scary or follow the theme religiously. So it’s always better to be on a safer side. The theme was “Earth Fantasy” and for that I decided to make my daughter a “Flower Fairy” but when her skirt made of real leaves was finally done, of course by yours truly, she looked like more of Tinkerbell.
Well, that didn’t matter. We still bagged one of the prizes. They picked 5 winners of the Best in Costume. Five of us were those who used recycled materials and put so much effort just to come up to a creative costume.
My time and effort paid off. I had to run, literally run from work to get on time at home, so that I can fix Deye for the party. Of course, my youngest, Ishi, also sported off her costume which was a hand me down from her Ate Deye.
This Pink Fairy costume was worn/used when Deye was in nursery and also bagged the Best in Costume award for the prep level. Photos here. I was 7 months pregnant with Ishi that time and look at her now, wearing that same costume!
The prizes we received were not as expensive as spending for a bottle of versace perfume but the fact that we were recognized was enough. I always tell Deye, win or lose, don’t cry, you are still beautiful. I’m glad I didn’t have to console her for not winning because we always did!
Haha!
